Round 9 Wrap

More wonderful romance news off the ice this week, with another engagement announcement. This time it’s Athena’s top 8 Sunny Stiglic popping the question to his partner Chantelle Reid. Everyone at KIHL wishes them the best of love and luck for their future together. Congratulations also to Ben Meldrum of the Bulles on his current honeymoon, and Anna and Nick of the Trouts who tied the knot! 

Back at the rink we had a great round of hockey with lots of fun, goals and shenanigans.

The Hot Dogs were on production round and had a great showing to cover all the jobs behind the scenes, which is a huge help to make the games and streams run each week.

Figgers accidently went to Chadstone during the Black Friday sales and had a terrible time.

The first game of the round was a battle of the top of the ladder, Delhi’s vs Athena’s. The Delhi’s started with a very short bench, but after all the late comers arrived their numbers were where they needed to be. At half time the score was zero all, the first double shutout in memory. It was a low scoring game, but not for lack of effort from the whole team. The Delhi’s scored their first goal after 40 minutes of game time, then a second goal 1 minute later. At the end of the game Athena’s were simply too powerful and ran over the depleted Delhis to take the top spot on the ladder. Cloughy’s player of the match was Brodhi Pruha, who had 33 shots on and some amazing saves.

Brodhi & Loky went back-to-back in goals on Sunday night, taking to the nets again for game 2, Maitlands vs Pinheads.

This game had goals galore, and we saw hat-tricks from Simon Spinozzi, Jake Adamsons & Trashman. JoJo scored the winning goal for the Maitlands in the last minute.

Tuesday night saw two of the newest teams facing off, Bulle’s vs Hella’s. In goals were Maitland and “Piece of Nesh” in it's season debut. Dynamo played for the Hella’s, scored a hat trick and received a guard of honour after the game, a great send off for his final game (for now) with KIHL as he is heading back to the UK.

The Planes vs Trout game saw hat tricks scored very quickly in the first half by Archie Kipper, Damien Anderson also with 3 on the scoreboard by the end of the game. Some great coaching from Nat Kondos on the sidelines during this game, that she may or may not know was caught on the microphones.

Overall,, a great round of hockey.
